Jarvis is a small community in Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada. This community is located near the towns of Simcoe, Townsend, Cayuga, Port Dover and Hagersville. Major highways Highway 3 and Highway 6 form a crossroads near the centre of the community. Jarvis is home of the famous annual summer Cornfest. Jarvis also is the home of the Jarvis Travelers Fastball team, winner of the ISC World Tournament of fast-pitch softball (fastball) in 2010. Possibly named after the notorious William Jarvis family of Toronto whose patriarch was very incompetent and selfish during his tenure as a government official, this community offers a traditional rustic small town ambience. Mr. William Jarvis himself was a member of the defunct Family Compact clique which believed in arch-conservative values that directly opposed democracy.
Jarvis is has many shops, stores and businesses for you to visit. Among them are restaurants, a butcher and bakery, convenience stores, bank, post office, garages, insurance agents and a broker, building supplies and hardware, plumbing and electrical, library, esthetics, hair styling, gas station, car dealership, garden centre and much more. Most of the community’s restaurants and shops are clustered around the main intersection.
