But a lot of people shy away from the Winter season as a time to take a Canadian trip. When in fact there are so many things to see and do. Each province offering their own set of sights to see and festivals to attend. You can skate the Rideau Canal, learn the art of making maple syrup at Nova Scotia\u2019s Moon Farm or explore the ice-walk in Alberta\u2019s Johnston Canyon in Banff. The possibilities are endless and adventure awaits you at every turn. Canada is truly a special and beautiful place. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Rideau Canal <\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Discover the UNESCO Historical site, the Rideau Canal in Ottawa Ontario. Also known as the world\u2019s largest skating rink. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. The canal was built between 1826 and 1834 by Colonel John By of the British Royal Engineers. The canal winds around the city with a total of 7.8km from downtown to Dows Lake. In the winter you\u2019re able to skate the entire canal and along the way enjoy stops to try some delicious beaver tails, hot chocolate and maple taffy. If you can\u2019t make it during the winter months you can still enjoy the canal anytime of the year. There are beautiful scenic paths to walk or take a boat.
